The name Ma’athematics is a reflection of the Kemetic (Ancient Egyptian) concept of Ma’at, signifying balance, order, truth, righteousness harmony, reciprocity and equilibrium. We believe that restoring and maintaining a loving unity with nature will bring about a balance and order, and ultimately a peace, to our earth. In the hieroglyphs, the concept of Ma’at is often personified as a winged goddess, or a goddess standing atop a platform with an ostrich feather in her hair, regulating the stars, seasons, and actions of both mortals and deities. It is believed that Ma’at set the universe from chaos at the moment of creation and that Ma’at is the fundamental order of the universe, without which, all creation would perish.

These concepts are of course, very large shoes to fill. But as long as I stay committed to my vision, and keep the integrity of my products unshakably sound, then I feel that these ideals are possible. It is definitely possible to set this planet apart from the chaos that has ensued over the years. Through reciprocity, taking from our earth, only as much as we need, and replenishing rather than polluting are the first and most important steps.

We must see ourselves as being connected to our planet, and to pollute our bodies (with chemicals and synthetics) will only add to the chaos and the imbalance. Ma’athematics Natural Body Care is taking those first steps to help us, and our earth, heal ourselves. For more information, feel free to Contact Us.

I absolutely adore this painting by Marjorie Borgella entitled “Maat Balance”. (Available for purchase on the Yes Lioness website, please visit http://yeslioness.com to learn about and view more from this artist!) Here, the goddess is weighing the heart of the deceased against her feather (the principle of truth and justice). If your heart weighs the same as her feather, this means that you have lived a life according to her laws and are permitted to enter the afterlife. If however, it is heavy with wrong-doing and tips the scale, it is devoured by Ammit, and rather than entering a place of torment like hell, you would simply cease to exist at all. Yikes!
